Upon entry to the United States Air Force, all Air Force musicians are required to complete Basic Military Training located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Basic training lasts approximately six weeks. During this period you will be assigned to the Drum and Bugle Corps.
The eight-week session is the only formal military training period musicians are required to complete. Unlike other services, the Air Force doesn't require members to attend a technical training school or military music school. After graduation from Basic Military Training, individuals report directly to their assigned band.
