Technical Sergeant John Caputo

TSgt John Caputo has been a member of the USAF Band program since 1999. TSgt Caputo grew up in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, graduating from Newberg High School in 1991. He then moved to Pittsburgh, PA to study at Duquesne University with legendary euphoniumist Brian L. Bowman. Upon graduating with his BS in Music Education, he attended the University of Michigan, graduating with his MM in euphonium performance in 1995, studying with Fritz Kaenzig and Mark Fisher.

In 1999, he began his Air Force career with the Band of the USAF Reserve at Robins AFB, Georgia. In that time, he performed with the Concert Band, the Ceremonial/Marching Band, the Jazz Ensemble, High Flight, and the Air Force Reserve Brass Quintet. He played alongside performers like Faith Hill, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Take Six, Aaron Neville, Crystal Gayle, Sandi Patti, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He has also performed in master classes and coachings with the American Brass Quintet, the Meridian Arts Ensemble, Fred Mills of the Canadian Brass, Brian Bowman, Steven Mead, Roger Oyster, Rex Martin, and Tom Gibson.

In addition to his performances with the Band of the USAF Reserve, TSgt Caputo appeared as a member of and frequent soloist with the Georgia Brass Band, a traditional British-style Brass Band in Atlanta, GA, from 2003-2010. He has been a featured soloist at the Great American Brass Band Festival, the International Euphonium Institute, and the Southeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference, as well as numerous other venues. He currently resides in San Antonio, TX with fellow euphoniumist Elizabeth Jones and their two cats, Fleck and Lily.
